I just uploaded, to my YouTube Channel, a presentation titled:
Factors and Processes of Heat Production in the Dog:
A Discussion on Ways to Prevent Overheating in Athletic and Working Dogs
This is a three part presentation that discusses the factors and processes of heat production in athletic and working dogs. The goal of this presentation is to introduce, to those individuals who work with dogs, the factors of heat production in the dog. It is hoped that they can use this information to develop training and conditioning programs to reduce the potential of Heat Stress and Heat stroke in dogs while working or performing their athletic events.
Part 1 https://youtu.be/ARvABnby2Ic
46.5 minutes
Basic Thermodynamics and Heat Regulation
Basic Metabolism & Temperature Management
Dog & Environment Thermal Interaction
Thermodynamics of the Dog
Management Goals to minimize Heat Stress
Heat production in the inactive state versus the active state
Environmental Factors of Heat Management
Part 2 https://youtu.be/nekV8mzGhi8
15.5 Minutes
The Integumentary System and the Dermal Environment

Design Condition Program to Prevent Pre-Event Temperature Increases
Reducing Internal Heat Production of Activity
Address Factors to Minimize factors of Fatigue
Activity Factors for Activity Preparation
Dog Variation
Nutritional Factors
Minimizing Effects of External Factors
How to Prepare the dogs to Handle External Factors
Addressing Heat Stress Signs Early
